(This letter has undergone minimal editing so as to bring greater clarity to the reader, but also to remain consistent with the education, culture, and message of its Ugandan author, Nkurunziza. English is spoken and written different there to some degree. For example: During my visit in Uganda, I saw many barbershops that were incorrectly named, "Soloon" instead of "Salon". While English is the second language in Uganda, many incorrect words like this are commonplace there due to the various levels of education of the populace.)
A Letter From Enyangi's Founder:
Praise Jesus,
My name is Nkurunziza Peter, the Director of ENYANGI ORPHANAGE LIMITED (formerly Little Angels of Jesus Foundation) located in Kabale south western Uganda, Africa.
Enyangi Orphanage came into existence after I grew up in a very poor family, I met some children who were miserably living, having days without a meal, and hard for them to get shelter. I felt touched and though I had little ability, I managed to help them with food sometimes but later got a partner who helped to house them for some time until he was unable to and in the process, Ervin & Brandy Malcuit came in and we got a rented home for them, beds, beddings and also Madam Toynette Foster who tried helping these children to continue going to school and they continued both providing for the needs of these children including other well-wishers.
Currently, we are housing 8, 3 boys and 5 girls, children who were homeless and not going to school but now they're having new hope and going to school. However, we are still renting but hoping to build a home where we can help more miserable children to have food and shelter.
Currently, we have two main sponsors through Multiply The Loaves organization but we hope to partner with others to bring happiness to more souls.
However, the challenge is when sometimes we run short of food and their clothing gets old though we have a sewing machine that their caretaker uses to sew their clothes after they are old and torn. Mostly when we are able, we get a piece of plain cloth and make dresses, shorts, and shirts for them.
On food, we also help nearby people who are in great need but have shelter (only when we have enough). We mainly depend on maize flour and rice and change a little like once in two weeks.
In the town where we are living, we buy both water and coal used for cooking and every need of the home. The free water is at a distance but we try to go fetch water there when we have no money to buy it at a closer well.
It costs approximately $260 a year including school fees, food, plus other needs like medical care and transport - per child.
We currently have a vehicle that was bought for us by Ervin & Brandy Malcuit which helps in different types of transport.
Through him, we also built a water tap in the area where most of these children were picked from suffering even lack of water.
We pray to God that we may be able to help more children after building a home for them because there is a lot of homeless and very poor people and that's where our heart is and together we can save lives.
Save a Child save a soul.
